Lately I have been asked how can you use the mind-body principles to achieve vibrant health and a higher level of well-being. When a pain persists or a chronic health ailment returns, it’s truly difficult to trust your body and have faith that you will heal and become well. I have also seen that when life appears to be improving and people are starting to make better choices and implement life changes, pains, inconvenient symptoms, and colds often arise. It appears counterintuitive to many, when they change their diet or add exercise to their lives, oftentimes lead to a detoxification process such as a cold/flu instead of more vibrancy and well-being.
Think of your body as a reservoir – the more good things you put in such as healthy foods, proper amounts of sleep, daily exercise, positive thoughts, and staying emotionally balanced, increases your resilience and ability to deal with challenging situations – physically, mentally, and emotionally. You are creating a positive storehouse and solid foundation from which to draw upon during times of increased stress and challenges. It takes energy and effort to shift from old ingrained patterns into a new reality and way of be-ing.
This is where mindfulness comes into play. It’s by taking time throughout the day to check in with your body, as well as your mind, to see where you are mentally, physically, and emotionally. Like any practice, it takes diligence, persistence, and a deep desire to be more present in your life and take responsibility for all that happens for you. By recognizing when you are reacting to situations based upon old experiences, by being mindful you can pause and then choose how you want to deal with those situations. Mindfulness helps you to stay in the present moment and frees you of all the should’s, have to’s, and need to’s. You owe it to yourself to experience an amazing life so act now and start being more mindful. Ultimately it’s the choices that you make and how you perceive the eventual outcome that will determine whether or not you can stay in a state of ease or dis-ease. It all comes back to a choice, so choose mindfulness and see the magic in your life unfold.
